Builders of the Movement

The Black Women's Health Imperative (BWHI) recognizes our "Builders of the Movement," those who were foundational to creating the National Black Woman's Health Project (now-renamed BWHI) mission of fostering a society in which all Black women and girls can achieve their full potential in all spheres of life.

The State of Black Women Symposium

Black Women’s Health Imperative (BWHI) celebrated its 40th  anniversary with the launch of its first State of Black Women (SOBW)  symposium. The event was held at BWHI’s birthplace, Spelman  College in Atlanta, and featured panel discussions, white paper presentations, and keynote speakers from the scientific and medical communities.

And, we will look toward the future with a new call to action in the fight for reproductive justice!

Our celebrations will feature local artists, musicians, and thought leaders. And we will honor grassroots leaders with BWHI signature awards.

And, In honor of our 40th anniversary, BWHI will offer 40 scholarships (8 per city) to cover the full cost of the ticket to our gala events.
